Desperado

Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses? You been out ridin’ fences for so long now

Oh, you’re a hard one

I know that you got your reasons

These things that are pleasin’ you

Can hurt you somehow
Don’t you draw the queen of diamonds, boy

She’ll beat you if she’s able

You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me, some fine things

Have been laid upon your table

But you only want the ones that you can’t get
Desperado, oh, you ain’t gettin’ no younger

Your pain and your hunger, they’re drivin’ you home

And freedom, oh freedom well, that’s just some people talkin’

Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don’t your feet get cold in the winter time?

The sky won’t snow and the sun won’t shine

It’s hard to tell the night time from the day

You’re losin’ all your highs and lows

Ain’t it funny how the feeling goes away?
Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?

Come down from your fences, open the gate

It may be rainin’, but there’s a rainbow above you

You better let somebody love you (let somebody love you)

You better let somebody love you before it’s too late.

Glenn Frey 1948-2016

  1. The Eagles..
    The soundtrack of my life.
I first heard them 40 odd years ago, when I’d given up hope after the Beatles had ended and Punk was on the horizon.
Everything I thought I loved had folded, only Wings offered hope against endless, mind-numbing pap.!
Musac written more like extended advert jangles.. Jangles ‘cos they get on your t#ts.!
And then these guys appeared and EVERYBODY was talking about them.
Instrumental work at least as good as Nashville session players. Gorgeous, soaring harmonies, and R&R or country swing.. magic.
I have been devoted to them as the most professional band EVER and seen them 4 times in total.. once in 1976 and 3 times since they reformed. All here in the UK.
Magnificent musicians.. the best I’ve ever seen. And I saw the acoustic “Hell freezes over” tour. Superb.
Tho’ I will say I preferred the band when Don Felder was part of it.. he and Joe Walsh sparked off each other so well, even if the rest of their relationship was not wonderful.. he had to go.!
This is a very sad day.. another jewel in an awful start to the year.
    Wonderful memories.. Happy days.

  2. Amen Bill…..for me too… I saw them in London in 76….from memory at the old Art Deco Earls Court arena…sadly now gone..and I 100% support your “….Instrumental work…..Gorgeous, soaring harmonies, and R&R or country swing.. magic….” comments..a band to die for. I missed their recent tour here last year as the ticket price was sadly astronomical and I was out of work (again) at the time

  3. Private party.?
Your boss must have some very well heeled friends indeed.
The last article I read some years ago, [ late 00’s ], Don Henley stated that they would always have space in the tour to fit in extra dates where requested.. at about £1M a go .. even then.
    Alright for some then.?
