Chin Strap

Mirror, Mirror – sometimes it’s best not to see what’s rearing up behind you, nor see where you’ve just been. You should ideally concentrate on the road ahead whilst making sure you’re looking good when traveling upon it.

Annual Goals

NYR – New Year’s Resolutions: the time of year when you need to take stock and wistfully ponder on what the heck you got up to and wonder what bedevilment you can get up to in the ensuing year. Here’s mine: project; new bike; travel; go places with my lass.

Two Wheels Good

DGR – LOOP – LSD

The bikers took over the City yesterday. Nearly 400 en masses snaked through the grid aligned streets. Horn blared, engines roared and pedestrians cheered. Everyone was smiling.

The way ahead is your future

Lean Left – Lean Right. Repeat

Favorite Roads – talking about the PCH yesterday inspired me to have a quick spin along a local road with sweeping corners. No Pacific sharing the curves, just some lagoons. But hey, you gotta get it where you can!

In the desert you can remember your name

Park Boulevard passing through Joshua Tree National Park (formerly Monument) is sixty miles of perfect blacktop that meanders with the natural geography of this 800,000 acres of Californian desert. The monzogranite rounded by eons of water and wind erosion give an otherworldly atmosphere. You really feel like your venturing across a Martian plain.

A Sine Curve

Heading north along the Wisconsin shoreline of Lake Michigan you’ll end up in the narrowing peninsula of Door County. A Midwestern backwater of the northwoods with freshwater on your port and starboard. Highway 42 dodders along in a lazy meander through the trees which from the look at these images can be enjoyed any time of year. Autumn is of course the best.

My recommendation? Don’t order the Fish Boil!

The Road

The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway. Also known on the maps as NYS 97. Following the meandering state line between New York and Pennsylvania with a few winding sections overlooking the Delaware River for 70 miles.

Fall would be a good time to visit!
